Misusu Rowan Tee (a free pattern)

Who doesn't love a free pattern? I first discovered Misusu through Zoe's Free Pattern Friday feature, and the Rowan tee has been on my list for a while!

A slightly oversized boxy tee with short dolman sleeves, you say? Count me in! Given that we often find ready-to-wear clothes a little on the tight side, an oversized look was a welcome change. Something that doesn't cling to the body is also perfect for the little heat wave that we are having here in the UK.

With very few pattern pieces (front, back, neckband, optional pocket and optional long sleeves), this is certainly a pattern to show off cute prints. And just how cute is this pineapple cotton jersey? The colours just scream summer, and has that effect of instantly putting a smile on my face.

I decided to omit the pocket, due to sheer laziness (I wanted this to be a satisfying quick sew). I also opted for the self-fabric neck band rather than a plain ribbing.

On that though, I love that this pattern has separate banding pieces depending on if you use jersey or ribbing. I am a big fan of little helpful touches like that.

Referring to the finished garment size chart, I decided to cut a size 24m. Speaking of which, why don't all patterns include this? I find them so helpful in understanding the amount of ease included, and the likely fit. The size chart is one thing, and

For reference, Freya is almost 21 months, but depending on pattern company/designer, I've generally been cutting a size 3T (and often grading to a 4T width) based on her measurements (read, adorable toddler pot belly) for most patterns over the last couple of months. So it is so refreshing to 1) cut a size that sounds about right for her actual age and 2) for it to still provide some room for growth! Bravo, Misusu!

Seriously, I have nothing but praise for this pattern. It is well drafted, stylish, and this simple version (short sleeves without pocket) could be sewn together in less time than drinking your cup of tea (if you are a slow drinker like me, that is). There will no doubt be more of this in the coming years!

If you like this Rowan Tee, make sure you check out the Max Tee (also free if you join the Facebook group) as well -- I've see so many amazing versions out there!
